on Thursday, May 4, 2023. She was born April 4,1931 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to
Edward Tenney Warner and Clarissa Condon Warner.
Mary met her beloved husband Thomas Lutz in 1960 when they were both employed at
Bell Telephone Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey. It was Mary's beautiful and
unforgettable smile that captivated Tom from the start. Prior to her employment with Bell
Laboratories Mary worked as an Administrative Assistant in Public Relations for the
ESSO Oil Corporation located at Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan across the street from
St. Patrick's Cathedral. A devout Catholic, St. Patrick's was a place near and dear to her
heart. She frequently attended Mass there and found much solace in her faith. Mary
attended Seton Hall University and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in
Westfield, NJ.
Throughout her life Mary devoted her life to others. She selflessly gave of her time by
volunteering for numerous charitiable organizations and churches. Mary was also
instrumental in reestablishing the Cherokee County Republican Women's Club. She
was a member of the Magna Charta Dames Society and the Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR).
Mary had several past-times. She enjoyed playing the piano, especially at parties.
When hosting social gatherings she was known as the "hostess with the most-est" and
was a true lady in every sense of the word. She enjoyed playing bridge. She loved
playing cards with her grandchildren and had the ability to make almost any situation
humorous. She was exceptionally kind and always extremely grateful for the smallest
kindnesses shown to her. One of her favorite songs was "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know"
which was written by her ancestor Susan B. Warner in the 1800s. She led a Christian
life and encouraged others to do the same.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Clarissa Condon Warner and Edward Tenney
Warner, brothers George Hopkins Warner and John William Warner. Her father and
brothers all served as Marines during war time.
She will be sorely missed by her devoted husband Thomas Lutz of Woodstock, GA; her
children Karen Lutz Armstrong of Newport, RI, Susan Bruno of Woodstock,GA; Thomas
A. Lutz (Kathleen Mass Lutz) of Auburn, MA, and John Lutz of Virginia Beach, VA. She
is survived by nine grandchildren whom she adored, Amanda, Nicholas and Wesley
Bruno; Danielle, Gabriel and Patrick Lutz; Gwen, Colin, and Tommy Lutz, and her great
grandson Rylan. Mary and her husband Tom would have celebrated their sixty-first
wedding anniversary this week on May 12th.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 9, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Woodstock Funeral
Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Michael the Archangel
