Marsha Anne Kaye was born to Kathleen and Francis Gowdy on July 6, 1951 in Detroit Michigan. She was raised in St. Clair Shores Michigan where she attended and graduated from South Lake High School, and where she met her soulmate Kenneth Kaye at fifteen years of age. They wed on March 6, 1971 and would go on to share forty-seven years of marriage. Over the course of their journey together, they traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe, resided in New York, New Jersey and in 1982 settled in Woodstock Georgia along with two beautiful children – their son Edmund, and daughter Allison, who both still reside here today.
On July 20th, 2018, our beloved Marsha departed this life. After courageously battling cancer for two years, she bravely surrendered and passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and lifelong friends. Marsha was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. She was a true blue, loyal friend to many. She was free-spirited and always up for an adventure, but also took pleasure in the simple things like bringing her family together for a home-cooked meal, getting lost in the stories of the thousands of books she read, going for a swim, listening to the soothing sounds of James Taylor, or tending to her sun garden. She was an enthusiastic lover of all genres of art, and was accomplished in mosaic and stained glass design. Each brilliant piece she made was thoughtfully curated and gifted with love.
Let us look back not in sadness but with great admiration, and take solace in knowing Marsha’s life was undoubtedly one well lived. We also take comfort in knowing her legacy will live on through the family that survives her:
Shirley Speirs, sister
Kathleen Gowdy, sister
Kenneth Kaye, husband
Edmund Kaye and Lindsey Anderson-Kaye, son and daughter-in-law
Allison Kaye-Brown and Greg Brown, daughter and son-in-law
