Louise was born to the late Michael Louis Slater and the late Margaret Collins Slater on November 20, 1966.
A wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Louise was loved by many. Louise was a native of Ireland and was presented with an opportunity of a lifetime. In her early twenties, an Irish-American senator issued a limited number of green cards for Irish citizens. Louise had won this lottery and began her new life in America.
Louise was kind, very personable and was known for her contagious laughter. Her soft voice and calming presence was soothing to those around her. Not one to take things too seriously, Louise enjoyed socializing with friends, holidays, food and art. Louise enjoyed watching golf, particularly the masters and occasionally managed to play a game. As a former member of ALTA (Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association) Louise enjoyed playing tennis, as well as watching tournaments throughout her life.
Louise had worked as a Senior Relationship Manager for Merrill Lynch for 24 years and was considered an integral member of the Merrill Lynch family. Her professionalism and sweet disposition will be missed.
Louise was a wonderful Mother to Sophie, always interested in her education, meeting her friends, and offering kindness and support to her. They also often traveled together whether it was to Sophie’s horse shows or on European holidays.
Louise Mary Knight is survived by her husband of nearly 5 years, Vic Knight; daughter, Sophie Reddin (a proud freshman at St. John’s University); stepdaughter, Lacy Knight Wise (Tyler); grandchildren, Knight Wise and Owen Wise; sister, Margaret Godfrey, and her children, Sean, Anna and Aoife Godfrey; and brother, David Slater.
