Louise was born June 17, 1946 in Wichita, KS, to Peter and Vera Stroot. Raised with a Sister and 3 Brothers, Louise graduated from St. Mary’s H.S., and then Wichita State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught several years in the Sedgewick Co. School System and worked with special needs children for several semesters.
In 1970, Louise met and married Ron Falter, an Air Force Captain, and the couple had a daughter, Courtney Lyn, in 1971. Courtney, a special needs child, sadly passed away in January, 1973. Six months later, the couple separated from the Air Force and moved to Stone Mountain, GA. Louise and Ron were blessed with 3 more children; Amy (‘74), Jennifer (‘76), and Todd (‘79). Louise loved life as a homemaker, raising her children and even enjoyed moving to such places as Lilburn/Snellville, south Florida, Houston, and then, Marietta, GA in June, 1985.
Soon, the couple began attending Masses at Transfiguration and one week the Bulletin announced openings in the “Holy Rollers” bowling league. They joined and within 3 years, Louise knew most everyone in the Parish. Louise continued to guide the children through the Church’s CCD programs and confirmations and as they got older she also worked at Cobb Co. Schools as a handicap monitor assisting special needs children, and managed to help move the family up to Woodstock in 1999. She retired in 2012, just prior to her youngest child’s wedding.
Louise has truly loved, been blessed by, and blossomed at, Transfiguration Catholic Church over the last 34 years. She has participated in such endeavors as home visitations, the annual fundraising drive, CCD class Teacher, Cursillo, the contact for marriage annulments, the Fall Festival, Healing Masses, the Charismatic Prayer Group and Perpetual Adoration.
She enjoyed everyone she met and, most likely, prayed for them at some time. She was extremely happy being allowed to “meddle” in her kids lives and adored her Grand kids.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Vera Stroot; eldest brother Sylvester Stroot and first born daughter Courtney Falter. Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 49 years, Ron; children, Amy (Lare) McCreary, Jennifer (Jason) Lee, and Todd (Dacia) Falter; siblings, Raymond (Sharon) Stroot, Louis (Connie) Stroot, Barbara (Mike) Mills and sister-in-law Mary Stroot; and seven perfect Grandchildren: Lauren, Isabelle, Ian, Preston, Solomon, Julian, and Lillian, and other extended family.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 6th, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Transfiguration Catholic Church 1815 Blackwell Road Marietta, Georgia 30066 with a reception following upstairs in Bishop Hall.
The family requests that instead of sending flowers or providing food, please make donations in Louise's memory as she would have wanted. Donations may be made to Transfiguration Catholic Church (please notate "Charismatic Prayer & Perpetual Adoration Prayer Team").
