Louis was born on September 4, 1931 in the Augustana Lutheran Hospital in Chicago to Anita and Ernst Oswald. Named after his maternal and paternal grandfathers, baptized at Tabor Lutheran Church on 22 October 1932 and subsequently Confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in 1945.
During his lifetime, Louis has served in various capacities at numerous churches as the family moved about the country: Treasurer, President, Vice-President, Committee Chairman, etc. After attending Patrick Henry and Mary Gage Peterson Elementary Schools, Louis then attended Von Steuben and Albert Lane High Schools and the Wilbur Wright Branch of the Chicago City College. After serving two years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in Georgia, New York, New Jersey and Germany, Louis completed college at Northwestern University in 1956 - with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
That same year Louis married Lee Francis Rolston at Christ Lutheran Church. After an extended honeymoon sightseeing through some of the western states, Louis accepted a sales position with the Standard Oil Company in picturesque Hood River, Oregon. Approximately a year and a half later, Lee & Lou welcomed the birth of a daughter, LeeAnn. Shortly thereafter, the Oswald family moved to Chicago where Louis accepted a sales position with Honeywell's Residential Division. A second daughter, Linda Kay was born in 1959, A third daughter, Laura Jean, was born at Augustana Lutheran Hospital in 1963. That same year, Honeywell promoted Louis to a new large Account Management position in Louisville, KY. Then in 1969, Louis moved the family to Cincinnati to accept a sales position with Honeywell's expanding Computer division. A few years later in 1971, a fourth daughter Lesley Marie joined the family.
The Oswald family subsequently moved from Cincinnati to Miami, Buffalo and finally settled in Atlanta in 1978. Louis accepted a new Computer Sales position with Digital Equipment Corporation in 1981 - from which he retired at 62 in 1993. He then worked alongside the mayor of Acworth on the lake authority to help create downtown Acworth what it is today.
Louis is survived by his wife, Lee Francis, his four daughters LeeAnn (David) Maas, Linda (John) Rock, Laura (Ken) Duncan, and Lesley (Jeffrey) Cox; eight grandchildren: Liesel (Charl) Hererra, Kurt (Calli) Huffman, John & Louis Rock (twins), Kenneth (Aimelie) Duncan, Kyle Duncan, Alyssa and Matthew Cox; and six great-grandchildren: Brayden Hererra, Harper and Hendrix Duncan, Brylee Duncan, Lyla Claire and Kyler James Huffman. Louis is also survived by his three younger brothers; Ronald, Norman (Kathleen), and Alan (Ginette).
The Lord graciously has called Louis to his eternal rest on 11/10/22 at the age of 91.

A memorial service for Louis will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188, followed by a reception from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
