Sue passed away peacefully at age 84 on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Kennesaw, Georgia after a brief illness surrounded by her family.
Born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Rosalie Blake and Clarence Franklin Shaw and was the youngest of 4 children. At the age of 3, the family moved to Keego Harbor, Michigan. Although not well off they lived on the beach. In 1954 at the age of 16, they moved to Chicago, Illinois where they had indoor plumbing for the first time. Sue attended Lake View High School where her daughters and grandsons later attended. They even had 2 of the same teachers.
Sue met the love of her life and soulmate Robert Alan Mohring “Bobby” in 1962 through a blind date set up by their best friends. They married in 1963, he proceeded her in death in 1990 after 27 years of love.
Sue was a dedicated wife and mother to:
Adam Robert Schermerhorn (Ann Fox), Leona Rose Mohring, AnnMarie Marvin (Paul Martin).
She was blessed with eight grandchildren:
Maeve Kara Schermerhorn, Colin Sean Schermerhorn, Jason Robert Alan Mohring (Amanda Valle), Kyle Blake Mohring, Zachary Robert Marvin (Janice Marvin), Adam Robert Schermerhorn II, Gage Kane Marvin and Olivia Rose Schermerhorn.
And further blessed to be a great grandmother (Gigi) to:
Thomas William Robert Mohring (4 years), Bryan Alexander Marvin (1 year 5 months) and Benjamin Francis Mohring (1 year 4 months).
She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews and a true friend to many more. She will be dearly missed and dearly remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and laughter.
She loved traveling with her husband in their motorhome, later with family/friends, holidays, vodka gimlets, candy, coca-cola, vernors ginger ale, Robert Mitchum, Elvis, 50s music and country music. Her favorite song was “The 12th of Never” by Johnny Mathis.
Her hobbies included cooking, puzzles, word searches, games, watching HGTV/ food channels, sewing, and especially making costumes. Her children always won best costume on Halloween and even though they just wanted a cheap box one when they were young. All their friends wanted her to make them one, which she usually did. She so loved life and wanted to surround herself with family and friends, living and loving to the fullest.
Friends and Family are welcome to attend a celebration of life service which to be held at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Acworth Georgia on May 29th 2023.
