Kathryn Metz

She was a proud California resident who lived in the Inland Empire for 42 yrs before relocating to Northern CA in 2016 to be closer to her son and his family. At age 70 she moved to Woodstock, GA to be closer to her daughter and her family and to reside in assisted living facilites including Brickmont, Sunabella Towne Lake and Legacy Ridge. However, her heart truly belonged to Southern California.

Kathy was a celebrated elementary school teacher in the Rialto Unified School district for over 30 years. After earning her master’s degree and Reading Specialist certification, she also worked with adults teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages. Her hobbies included singing and playing piano, participating in church choirs as well as summer musical productions at the Redlands Bowl during the 1970’s.

Kathy will be greatly missed by her family including her sister, Cynthia Dorr; her son and daughter in law, Jonathan and Jessica Hughes; and her daughter and son in law, Carolyn and Matthew Shepherd. She has 5 beautiful grand children - Saige, Dorian, Kai and Riley Shepherd; and Henry Hughes. She loved them very much and loved to hear about what they were up to.

Kathryn will return to San Diego CA to be reunited with her mother Margaret Metz and grandmother Dollie Coleman , overlooking Lake Cuyamaca as her final resting place. It was our pleasure to spend time with her in her final years.
