Gloria Patricia Cunningham

Gloria Patricia Cunningham passed away in her sleep, Friday March 27th, 2024 at 8:00 pm. She was 89 years old. Patsy was born a Smith on August 27, 1934 in Hazlehurst, Ga. Most recently living in Canton, Ga., and previously living in Old Hickory, TN., from 1979 to 2010. She had 5 sisters Mildred, Margaret, Anne, Robbie & Evelyn and a brother Harry. Anne Miller of Ellijay is still with us. Patsy will be meeting loving husband Ross Cunningham in heaven. They were married 37 years before he passed away in 2009.

Patsy grew up and flourished in a most amazing time. She married young. She moved from the rural farmland of South Georgia to Atlanta in 1952, following her older sisters and brother. Married a handsome Army man named Stan and had a son Stan Jr. in 1953. Being a military bride, she and her husband lived in Fayetteville, NC, and San Francisco. Then back to Fayetteville. Then to College Park, Ga., and got a divorce when she was 26. She and Stan Jr. moved in with her mother and daddy (Faye and Harry Smith) in Decatur, Ga. She worked 2 jobs until she met Ross Cunningham and got married in 1974. They ended up in Old Hickory, Tenn by way of Michigan until he passed in 2009. She moved back to Georgia and has lived in Canton ever since.

She leaves behind a son Stan Baucom and his wife Gloria of Lake Forest, Ca. Also her grandchildren Jesse Kelley, of Dahlonega, Ga., and Jeff Baucom and wife Caroline of Canton, Ga. Along with five great grandchildren, River, Saylor, Willow, Birdie and June along with their grandmother Shelly Baucom also of Canton.

She has been a daughter, a sister, a friend, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother and now a sweet memory. May her gentle touch and smile be with us for all our days.
