Eldo Ediger was born on March 4th, 1929 in McPherson, Kansas to Jacob Ediger and Nellie Pauls Ediger. Eldo died on June 1st, 2024 in Canton, Georgia at the age of 95. Eldo lived with his parents and five brothers on a farm near Inman, Kansas through his youth, surrounded by relatives from the Ediger and Pauls families. Eldo graduated from high school in McPherson Kansas and earned a business degree from Fort Hays Kansas State College.
On September 4th, 1951 Eldo married Rae Charlene Witham of Bird City, Kansas. Charlene and Eldo met when Eldo was managing a grocery store in Bird City. They lived in Chicago, Illinois, while Eldo served in the U.S. Army; then Hays, Kansas while Eldo attended college; and then moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1955. Charlene and Eldo resided in Springfield for 25 years, where they raised their two sons while very active in their church and community. Eldo's business career subsequently moved them to Indianapolis, St Louis and Kansas City leading up to 1995, at which time they moved to their retirement home in Canton, Georgia. Charlene and Eldo enjoyed membership in Hillside Methodist Church at Woodstock, Georgia.
Eldo was a very successful business leader in the property insurance industry, known for his integrity and hard work. He was admired by many for his cheerful, generous approach to life, investing countless hours as a volunteer throughout his adult life. In retirement he was very active in service projects with the Marietta, Georgia Golden K Kiwanis Club, the Salvation Army and as a mentor to college business students. He was extraordinarily skilled as a gardener.
Eldo was a dedicated father to their two sons, accompanying them on Boy Scout camping trips and fishing trips in the Ozarks. Eldo and his wife Charlene loved and supported their sons, enabling them both to attain their aspirations with successful careers as physicians. Eldo particularly enjoyed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eldo was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene, his sister, Velma Ediger, and his brother Virgil Ediger. He is survived by his two sons, Mark Alan Ediger of Driftwood, Texas and Scott Lynn Ediger of Atlanta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Zachary Ediger, Amy Clendenin, Ashley Ediger and Ross Ediger; two step-grandchildren, Taylor Hanks and Colin Hanks; and five great-grandchildren, Brett Ediger, Owen Clendenin, Beckett Hatt, Remi Ediger and Elizabeth Ediger. He is also survived by his brothers Vernon Ediger, Carl Ediger, Paul Ediger and Wayne Ediger.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Eldo Ediger to the Salvation Army or to Must Ministries.
Services will occur at the Georgia National Cemetery near Canton, Georgia.
