Edward Dale Johnston

Mr. Edward Dale Johnston, 70, of Acworth, GA passed away November 17, 2016. Ed was born to the late Homer Johnston and Cora McLemore in Marietta, GA on July 24, 1946. After high school, Ed joined the US Army and honorably served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed a career as a fire fighter for the Gwinnett County Fire Department. He was a very quiet man and would often say he was so quiet because he enjoyed being a good listener. He enjoyed gardening and fishing was happiest when outdoors. He also enjoyed attending services at Kennesaw Methodist Church. Ed was a loving and doting father and papaw. He will be immensely missed by many. Ed leaves behind his daughter, Angela Johnston Sligh and her husband Chris, grandchildren, Emma, Avery and Brennan; siblings, Shirley Bruce, Linda Whittington, Sonny Johnston, Wylene Buchanan and Hugh Johnston and longtime companion, Carole Savell. A celebration of Ed’s life will be Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 5:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service.
