Catherine Burke, age 77, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain in Marietta, GA after a long illness. A long time resident in New England, she moved to Georgia for the second time in 2019.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Richard Murray, and her mother, Blanche Burke.
Cathy was born in Bridgeport, CT. She attended Trinity College in Burlington, VT where she earned her BA in English. She then accepted an apprenticeship at G Fox & Co Department Store in Hartford, CT where she demonstrated her strong work ethic and continued on to pursue a long career in retail merchandizing/management at several large department stores including Gimbels, Macys, Sage-Allen and Marshalls. After retirement, she continued to utilize these skills as a manager of a nonprofit boutique, Schip's Treasure Resale Shop in Shelburne, VT. Cathy was a two time cancer survivor.
Thank you to everyone who supported Cathy over the years. Your friendship brought her great comfort. We will always carry her in our hearts.
She will be buried in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT next to her mother at a later date.
