Carl was a proud New Yorker. He graduated from the City University of New York with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Business Administration. Carl then went on to have a successful career where he was a department head and trailblazer in diversity and inclusion at Westinghouse, Mobil Oil (now Exxon/Mobil), Campbell Soup, Phillip Morris, Bank of America and various other companies. He retired in 1999 as VP of Human Resources for Bank of America.
In his personal life, Mr. Johnson enjoyed going to the movies, Broadway musicals, fishing, train collecting, playing cards and traveling. Most of all, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and with his wife of 59 years, Mozelle.
Carl Johnson was admired and recognized as a man of intelligence and quiet strength. He will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Carl has been reunited with his parents; brother, Frank Johnson; and sister, Audrey. He is survived by his wife, Mozelle Johnson; children, Brian Johnson and Carla Johnson; grandchildren, Morgan Braithwaite and Austin Johnson; brother, Robert Johnson and his wife Cecilie Johnson; sister, Christina “Tina” Johnson; and sister-in-law, widow of Frank Johnson, Helene Johnson as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends..
There will be a private service to honor the life of Carl Johnson for the immediate family. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, extended family and friends are encouraged to view the livestream on Facebook Live and on Zoom on Saturday, August 8th, 2020 at 2:30 PM
