Bruce Henry Jordy, 95, of Waleska, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2024. Born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Harold Lester Jordy Sr. and the late Lillian Marie Perre Jordy. Bruce shared his life with his beloved wife, Laura Wrenn Jordy, for 59 years. He is survived by his three daughters: Teresa (Josh) Lawson, Suzanne (Andy) Teixeira, Karen (Brett) Roeder, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Ben (wife Lindan) Lawson, Rachel Lawson, Jessica (husband Zack) Chandler, Erin (husband Jonathan) Taylor, Chad Roeder (and fiance Evette), Austin Roeder (and fiance Megan), Jordan (wife Mally) Roeder, Kaylee Roeder, his precious great-grandchildren Merrin Cerny and Huck Roeder and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bruce's early years were spent in New Orleans, where he served as an altar boy and participated in the choir. He enjoyed theater and playing football during his school days. He was very involved in Boy Scouts where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and served as commissioner for the advancement committee in New Orleans. Bruce served in the Air Force during the Korean War where he received commendations including the Korean Service Medal and the UN Service Medal. Afterward, he pursued higher education, graduating from Southern Mississippi with a double major in accounting and business administration.
His professional journey led him through roles in retail, including positions at Sears and JC Penney. Bruce was deeply committed to community service, contributing his time to organizations such as the United Way and coaching youth football and girls' softball teams. He was passionate about education, volunteering in classrooms to assist fifth graders in learning fractions, decimals and percentages.
Later in his career, Bruce found his calling at Great American Reserve assisting teachers throughout Georgia with retirement planning. Outside of work, he enjoyed activities such as golfing, deep-sea fishing, playing cards, and avidly following sports, with a particular passion for Southern Miss football and the New Orleans Saints. He loved travel adventures including cruises. And he loved sharing his humor through jokes and stories, always striving to bring laughter to those around him.
Above all, Bruce treasured moments spent with his family, finding immense joy in his roles as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His life was a testament to love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
