Mr. Billy McCoy Warden, 87, of Woodstock, GA passed away September 29, 2020. Billy grew up in Cookeville, TN. Billy was born on May 18, 1933 in Livingston, TN to the late Joebob and Zora Warden. Billy honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service, Billy attended Middle Tennessee University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. He earned a master’s degree in Psychiatric Social Work from the University of Tennessee Nashville.
Billy spent his career helping others. He was a social worker for Milledgeville State Hospital and he also worked for the Youth Development Center. Billy retired from the Cobb-Douglas Mental Health Department. He was an avid reader & gardener. Some of his favorite hobbies include hiking, fishing, target shooting and eating onions. Yes! Eating onions. He was very outgoing and a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan. Billy will be remembered for his strength, kindness, generosity and willingness to help others. He was as loving husband, father, grandfather and will be deeply missed by the many people he has touched.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Oleada Warden; daughters, Rachel Warden Smith (Allen) and Regina Warden Toland (Phillip); grandchildren, Logan, Brynn and Brielle; and sister, Lois Whited (Billy). He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 big brothers and 4 sisters.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
