Barbara, as a homemaker, found great pride in caring for her family. She loved raising her children and enjoyed the quality time they spent together. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting afghans for everyone in her family. Barbara had an artistic side which was shown through her paintings. She loved playing tennis, and while living in Boca Raton, Florida, was the Volunteer Coordinator for the 1985 Rod Laver International Tennis Tournament.
Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. In 1956, she met Robert Rich and on May 17, 1958 they were married. They spent 60 loving years together before her passing.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Bob Rich; sons, Rob Rich, Jr. and wife Linda, Bill Rich and wife Kathi; daughter, Renee Pihl, and husband Scott; brother David Thorell, and wife Linda; sister, Lisa Thorell, and husband Paul; and grandchildren, Ashley Pihl and Jordan Rich.
A celebration of her life will be held at Woodstock Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The family will be receive friends for visitation at 6pm, service at 7pm, and a catered reception will follow at the Woodstock Funeral Home.
