Barbara C. Prokopek

Barbara Christine Prokopek, age 66, passed away June 5, 2013 at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Barbara was born in Germany and moved to Chicago, IL in 1949. Barbara graduated from St. Mary of Nazareth School of Nursing in 1968 and Alverno College in 1989 with a BA degree in nursing and computer science. Barbara spent 42 years as a nurse working in hospitals and surgical centers taking care of thousands of patients throughout the years. Barbara is survived by her mother, Valerie Toia (Woodstock, GA), her brother, George Grabowski (Marietta, GA), daughters, Terri Herod (Alan) of Atlanta, GA and Jean Prokopek-Kasnick (Eric) of Roselle, IL and grandchildren Alexa, Bryce and Matthew. A funeral service will be held Sunday June 9, 2013 at 2:30 pm at Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel in Woodstock, GA. Minister Deva Joy Gouss will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday June 8, 2013 from 3 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
