and Eddy Lee Lomax. Queen was the oldest of four children followed by Margarette L. Ewing, Enoch Lomax and the late William Lomax.
At the age of 14 Queen relocated to Jamaica Queens, New York, where she attended and graduated from Jamaica High School. During her time at Jamaica High she became and loved being a marching band majorette. This is where she met her future husband Mr. Arthur Dennis Smith Jr.
Queen and Arthur had their first born son Arthur Dennis Smith lll on February, 6, 1963. Queen and Arthur became one when they married on June, 22, 1963. In March of 1965 they relocated to Astoria, Queens. The same year they became the parents of their second son Mr. Anthony Christopher Smith.
The year 1969 was extremely important to Queen, this was the year she was baptised and devoted her life to Jehovah God. Queen lived by Jehovah’s word. She enjoyed attending her meetings, she always pushed to make her monthly goals for field service and when it was the times of the year for the District Assembly and The Memorial, Queen looked forward to being in the company of her many brother’s and sister’s of the Kingdom Hall.
On June, 26, 1971, Queen and Arthur had their third child and first daughter. Mrs. Daphne Renee Smith Morrison. Besides the children she gave birth to, Queen took on the responsibility of raising Mr. Arthur Abbensett when his mother passed away. She went above and beyond her duties as a grandmother when she chose to adopt and raise her first born granddaughter Ms. Tywana M. Washington-Smith as her own daughter.
Queen began her career as a social worker for the Department of Social Services in 1985. Queen enjoyed working for the City of New York. During her employment with the city she received many recognitions and awards for her great service. She was a hard dedicated worker. She was able to take advantage of enjoying the fruits of labor, as she was able to take vacations to different countries around the world. In 2007 Queen retired from the city of New York after 22 years of service.
One thing Queen said she would do and she definitely did was enjoy her retirement. She continued to travel to other countries but one of her favorite and most frequent vacations stops, were her trips to Virginia. During her visits she would spend time with her family. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would get together for gatherings to enjoy each other, anything to create wonderful unforgettable memories. Anytime she came to visit it was almost a guarantee that her bus ticket would get extended due to her daughter Daphne convincing her to stay just a few more days.
On Wednesday, August, 29, 2018, Queen departed us. Queen will be missed for her witty ways, beautiful smile and caring heart. Anything she could do to help anyone she would. She always gave the best advice on any situation. To simply state Queen will be missed is an understatement.
