Mildred Antoinette Kern was born November 11, 1930 to Elizabeth (Arnold) and Charles Oliva in the Borough of Queens, New York City. Her older siblings were Mary, Charles, Ruth and her younger sister was Patricia.
Following her high school graduation, she worked for as a hair dresser in Flushing, New York. She later changed careers and worked for many years at the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority where she met her future husband, Walter Kern. She was married from 1975 until Walter's death in 1992. She retired from this position in 1997.
Throughout her life, Millie was devoted to her extended family, her beloved pets and folk, Contra and English County Dance. Her favorite locale for dance was Pinewoods Camp in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
She is survived by her niece and faithful companion, Gloria Glaser as well as niece, Jane Terebey and nephews Kevin Krostosky, Christopher Oliva, and Jeffrey Krostosky. She also has one
grandnephew, Michael Terebey, one grandniece, Laura Johnson, and one great-grandnephew, Alexander Terebey.
Internment will be next to her husband at Calverton National Cemetery on Long Island.
