He served in the US Army and Reserves, then moved to the New York City area in his early twenties. He met and married his wife, graduated from NYC College of Technology, and began his career as a graphic artist.
He faithfully attended Woodside Community Baptist Church for many years. Inquiring about one’s faith was important to him as he enjoyed asking those he met, “are you a born-again believer?” He also enjoyed listening to gospel music and would often play his favorite songs on car rides to visit family.
He enjoyed making his suits and dresses for family members, crafting wallets and belts from leather, refurbishing old furniture for neighbors and friends, and tinkering with his classic car. He also enjoyed running long distances and participated in races out of state and locally including the NYC Marathon.
