Jennie Mae Carr was born to Lafayette and Minnie Carr in Rock-ville, Maryland on June 27, 1924. Her early years were spent in North Carolina. She graduated from Price High School in Salisbury, North Carolina.
In 1945 she married Raymond G. Holt. They moved to Astoria, New York. From this union 3 children, Raymond G. Holt, Jr., Ed-ward E. Holt and Rosemary Holt, were born.
In the early 50s she joined First Reform Church of Astoria.
She remained a faithful member, but due to ill health she did not attend in her later years.
When she first came to New York City, she was employed at
a chocolate factory. Later she worked at Saint Claire’s Hospital for 26 years until she retired. After retirement she became an Eastern Star. She loved to volunteer at the Community Center. She loved to trav-el. She went to Africa, Hawaii, San Francisco, the Islands and on several cruises.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Rosemary Holt; two sisters, Irene Frisby and Josephine Leach; four grandchildren Victoria Carswell (George), Deirdre Lowery, Raymond R. Holt, Ronnie L. Holt (Sandra), six great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly.
