As a teenager she was very interested in fashion and went to Fashion Industry High School. At 15 she met Thomas Davis and they married at 17. This union produced two daughters, Regina Davis and Deanna Jones.
As a young mother, Alicia became a very skilled seamstress and made many of her family's clothing and curtains. She was very fashion conscious. She enjoyed movies, reading and spending time with friends.
Alicia was very spiritual and throughout her life became involved in many faiths. She was always interested in the message and the peace it gave to her.
Alicia always kept her youthful, free spirited attitude until the end.
Later in life she became a member of the Jacob Riis Senior Center, where she enjoyed socializing with colleagues and her many friends. She loved to play bingo.
Alicia is survived by her children, Deanna Jones and Regina Davis; her grandchildren, Kuwan Nelson, Ayanna Smalls, Dawn Smalls and Malcolm Smalls; her sister Jean Nickens and her niece Karen Thomas, her nephews Raymond Nickens Jr., Todd Nickens and Antonio Perry. She also leaves behind numerous relatives and friends.
Alicia is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sylvia, and her niece Ava.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Rev. Dr. Ruby Wilson of Safe Haven UCC; Thomas Davis for his undying wisdom and support; Thomas M. Quinn & Sons, funeral director William F. Harley as well as colleagues for their assistance during this difficult time; and to family and friends who helped with unconditional love.
The family expresses their appreciation and sincere thanks for all acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow.
Alicia will have a private cremation service on June 26th, 2013.
