Julie Nielsen-Fuhrmann was born October 1, 1951 to Elmer and Edith (Eskov) Nielsen in Tyler, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler. She attended school in Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School in 1969. After high school, she went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Mankato State University in 1973.
On December 11, 1982, Julie married Frederick Fuhrmann at Danebod Lutheran Church. They had two sons, Aaron and Christopher. After marriage, Julie and Fred made their home in Marshall, Minnesota.
After moving to Woodbury in 1994, Julie began working at the Minnesota State Department of Education. She earned her Master’s degree from Concordia University, St. Paul in 2008. She worked for the Department of Education for 20 years and retired in January 2018.
She enjoyed serving her church communities by teaching and as superintendent of Sunday School at Lutheran Church of Peace. Julie was an avid reader, baker, seamstress, homemaker and gardener. She always made her house a home and welcomed visitors with delicious food and coffee.
On Saturday, November 24, 2018, Julie Ann Nielsen-Fuhrmann died peacefully and surrounded by family at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick and son Christopher; brother Alan and wife Susan of Richfield, Minnesota; sister-in law Jan Nielsen of Tyler, Minnesota; nephews and nieces Scott and wife Tara Nielsen of Moorhead, Minnesota; Shanna and husband Todd Kooker of Spencer, Iowa and their three sons Chase, Blake, and Zachary; Sara and husband Allan Mortensgaard of Holstebro, Denmark and their two children McKensie and Kayden; Will Nielsen and Lisa Nielsen of Richfield, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Roger, and son, Aaron.
