Judy was born in St. Paul to George Whitacre III and Margaret Whitacre. Growing up, she enjoyed sharing time with family which included one younger sister and a boat load of cousins. The four of them also enjoyed attending plays and musicals at the theater.
She graduated from Sibley High School, class of 1964, where she was involved in many clubs and women’s athletics before studying Business and Theology at the College of St. Catherine. She devoted her life as a nun with the Sisters of St. Joseph for over 25 years. She served as an Executive Treasurer, Manager and Provincial Treasurer. She used her skills to travel the country building relationships and help modernize the order. She also worked at First National Bank of St. Paul shortly during that time. Lastly, she worked at her beloved St. Pascal Baylon Church in St. Paul as a business administrator for over 20 years where she played a significant role as a member of the parish.
She shared her vibrant, faithful, and caring personality in all aspects of her life. She loved spending her time with family and friends, fishing, traveling, dining, playing cards, socializing and whole-heartedly serving those in need.
We will remember Jude as a caring daughter, an incredible sister, a fun and loving aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many. She was a heck of a speaker, told witty jokes, prayed and spoke wisely about her faith. She organized gatherings, visited with church friends, signed up to be on numerous committees and always brought the fun. She made everyone she knew feel special and loved. She will be so greatly missed in our human life. Jude would say this many times, “See you on the other side.” and our answer is “Yes, we will!” In the meantime we know Jude would like you to live your life knowing LIFE IS GOOD.
Judy is survived by her sister, Jill Roche; nephew Tim (Cinnamon) Roche; niece Jennifer (Mark) Christensen; great-nieces and great-nephews Jake Christensen, Alyssa Christensen, Jocelyn (Landon) Conrath and Natalie (Andrew) Schmitz.
