Retired 3M
Dad, we weren’t quite ready for you to leave us, but we know Mom was waiting for you. You met Yvonne “Mac” McDonald in Proctor when you were 14. Your friendship and love never waned throughout 66 years of marriage. As a team, you raised Anne/Tresy Pflugi (Dave Schafer), John (Lee) Pflugi, Beth (Jeff) Hvass, Matt Pflugi (Patti Morris), and MaryJane (Mark) Spitzmueller. Now we’ll pass on your legacy of faith, family, and love of the north woods to 16 grandkids and 17 greats. You taught us so much – the pride and sacrifice of serving as a radio operator in the Armored Division in World War II, the satisfaction and personal growth of a 35-year career as a 3M electrical engineer and manager. But your most enduring lessons were your unwavering faith in God, putting your family before work and yourself, and teaching us the joy of skipping stones in Lake Superior, turning over rocks on hikes, identifying animal scat, and so much more – all in your, and now our, beloved north woods. Thank you for your legacy and lessons. We’ll hold them in our hearts. If you wish to donate in John’s honor, consider the Listening House St. Paul, Catholic Charities Twin Cities, Joseph’s Coat St. Paul.
