Dear Jim, Lisa and family,
With sadness we found the message of your mothers' passing when we arrived home.
Although it is such a sad time, it is also a time to rejoice the wonderful long life of Aunt Helen and her many accomplishments.
I am so fortunate to have had the years (1961-67) when my family was able to visit so many many times while she was living in Rawdon with you and your dad. It was then we got to know her.
Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Jim, Lisa and Family:
Thinking of you today and wishing I could be there with you.  My first memory of your Mum was when she and your Dad, relatively newly married, arrived in Montreal to visit with us.  It was soon to be shared that she was "great with child"!
She has been a wonderful example  to me of how to live my life and I always looked forward to the arrival of her inspirational greetings at both Easter and Christmas.

At the news of Aunt Helen's death, I am filled with sadness, but sadness mixed with gratitude and hope.  I am grateful to have known a woman of such unshakeable faith, a faith  so precious and central that she shared it eagerly with me, as with all she loved so deeply.  I am grateful to have shared a birthday with her, December 16, and especially blessed this year at the opportunity to speak with her one last time on that special day, just a couple of weeks ago.  My wife, Shirley, and I were given a special gift by God on that day, the chance to tell Aunt Helen one last time just how much we loved her and how we were praying for her in those final days, as she prepared to meet her sweet Savior.
Aunt Helen provided a wonderful example of a life filled with courage, strength, love and faith.  She has left us a rich legacy of hope, one that will live on through the memories of her family and grandchildren.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but especially by me, and especially next year when December 16 rolls around again.

I remember Grandma Helen as one to inspire and to encourage us to do more with our faith. While I was growing up she spent time with us between mission assignments and during her travels, and she always had time to help me with school work or to chat. My wife Holly and I were blessed to visit her this past summer and found her to be unchanged, other than a bit slower. She is going to be missed, but will remain strong in our memories. It is a comforting thought to know that she is at home with our Lord and Savior.

Helen has always been a light and an inspiration to me ... whether in the school where we taught together, in the hospital where she was a constant and wonderfully caring nurse, in the church community where her solid faith and commitment has always been a beacon of light for me. I will remember Aunt Helen as the kind ,quiet ,gentle ,peaceful lady she was . Her faith  could only inspire. i first met her when they were on their honeymoon and they treated me to a horse and buggy ride atop Mount Royal , during my student nursing days . I still cherish the little gold cuff links they gave me on graduation . I remember her delight in presenting us with some of her home made chocolates down at Grandad's house in Rawdon.  I so enjoyed our phone conversations and correspondance over the years .Although  she had a long and varied nursing career , and her enjoyable travel times in retirement , it was always so evident that Jim and his family illuminated her life.I will  miss her , and hold the memories close.
