Eric was born on December 31, 1965 to Evariste and Judy Osten. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy; aunts, Rosie, Sue and Kris; uncles, Tim and Gary. He is survived by his father, Evariste; sister, Wendy (Jim Nordby); beloved nephew, Nick; uncle; aunts; cousins, other relatives in his extended family and numerous friends.
He was raised in St. Paul, graduated from Harding High School, Lakewood Community College and the University of Minnesota. While in school his part time job was Emergency Room Technician at St. Paul Medical Center (now Regions Hospital). Also, he spent one summer as a Medical Investigator for the Indian Health Service in Rapid City, South Dakota. After school he was a Sheriff's Deputy in the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department. Following an on-the-job injury and medical retirement, his programming and computer skills got him jobs at The St. Paul Companies, Korn Ferry and Allina. He also added a paralegal certificate from Inver Hills Community College. His final, semi-retired job was as a Respite Caregiver for Orion Associates.
Past volunteer work: Habitat for Humanity, Courage Center, American Red Cross, Maplewood Monarchs Special Olympics Delegation. And at the time of his death the Oakdale Gun Club as Legislative Director, a range safety officer and a Minnesota DNR Certified Firearm Safety Instructor. Eric had many friends including his five (not all at one time) Akita dogs and too many social activities to mention.
A Visitation will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4 - 6 pm with a Memorial Service beginning at 6:00 PM at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury, MN 55125.
