Ed was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in Duluth, Minnesota across the street from UMD.
At ten years old he took on a morning paper route. In the winter snow was so deep he had to deliver the paper wearing snow shoes and pulling a sled. His morning companion was a neighbor's dog, who accompanied him every day, and a guardian angel watching over him to make it safely home where his mother was always waiting for him.
He attended pre-engineering for two years at UMD, during this time he took organic chemistry, calculus and where he would meet the love of his life Mary. Ed attended the University of Minnesota to finish the five-year course. He also spent a year in medical school, getting a biomedical option. He went on to earn an MBA from the university of St. Thomas.
He worked for 34 years at 3M, until his retirement. While working he was known as a person who could get things done, they called him "Can Do McCue".
Ed was good at everything he focused on, be it sports, home renovation especially painting. He taught himself to sail and took navigation courses to be able to captain a sailboat in the Caribbean.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bernice and Edward McCue, his sisters Sarah Starkey and Elenor Gelpi.
Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary and daughter Mary Roby.
Ed will be greatly missed by family and friends.
