Dorothy Ann Eichten was born on March 5, 1923 near Andover, SD, one of twelve children to Julius and Lucy (Zimney) Dylla. She died on January 21, 2013 at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, MN. Dorothy was a graduate of Northern State Teachers College. She started her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse. She married Wendeline “Wink” Eichten on September 15, 1952. They lived in Morton, MN where she taught school. While teaching and raising two daughters, she continued to take summer college courses and graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science degree from Mankato State University in 1972. Dorothy retired from teaching in 1986. Dorothy had been an active parishioner of St. John’s in Morton, MN. As a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, she made hundreds of rosaries for missions, braided palms for the Easter alter, and taught CCD classes.
Dorothy is survived by her Daughters, Mary (Jim) Gelbmann of Woodbury, MN and Joan (Adam) Baumstarck of Gainesville, FL; Six Grandchildren; Brothers, George (Dorothy) Dylla and Lawrence (Sharon) Dylla; and Sister, Helen (Kay) VanDover. She is preceded in death by her Husband Wink; Six Brothers and Two Sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Dorothy at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 24 at The Church of St. Rita, 8694 80th St. S, Cottage Grove, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. Interment will be at the St. Mathias Catholic Cemetery in Wanda (Willow Lake Township), MN at 1:00 PM on Friday, Jan 25.
