I’m still in shock and loss of words even today writing this. Today is my birthday and I just remember all the previous years of you wishing me a happy birthday to me. Cody was the most genuine humble friend that I have met at a very young age. I always remember the times we played Habbo together and slowly transformed to play on the Xbox with Jeff. I will never forget those days and will forever cherish those memories with you as a kid. You will be forever missed and there won’t be a day where I’ll randomly think about you. I was so close to meeting you in person finally and I wish I could of made it out to you sooner rather than never. I will always be thankful for calling you my friend. Miss you Cody, you will forever be missed brother. 

I couldn't bring myself to write this as I am still broken and in shock from this loss. To try and summarize my friendship with Cody in just one post would be a disservice as  we've shared a special bond and great memories throughout our 16 years of knowing each other. I remember meeting him back on this game called Habbo back in 2006. The early years as kids would be spent on that game roleplaying as Ninjas, Football players, building night clubs, and overall just goofing off for countless all nighters. As we got older we'd always look back on the good old days as online best friends, but we'd also confide in each other about plans for the future and how we'd live life to the fullest... Throughout the years, not only did I learn that Cody was the most thoughtful, genuine, and humble individual ever, but I learned he had so much ambition to chase his dreams and accomplish his goals he'd set out. I know for a fact if he wasn't taken away from us he'd achieve everything he said he would. 


The best way I will honor you is to always live my best life, never take a moment for granted, and most importantly go after everything you've ever wanted in life, no matter how unrealistic it may be. Life will go on, but it will never be the same without you brother. This is a farewell, but definitely not a goodbye as you'll always be with us. 

First of all, I am sorry for your lost , I have just met cody last December since I have just moved to a new place in Jersey city. He was really kind person and respectful housemate, and he was helping me a lot since I moved to the home. One day he just found that there are 2 mice at home, so he was helping us to get rid of them ASAP and he did actually by using traps. I hope he is in better place.

We had a lot of great times together over the years... pulling all nighters as teenagers, gaming with friends and going to Taco Bell, partying in college, and working together at Jimmy John's. We liked a lot of the same music, tv shows, movies, and even legos. You were always quick to make a dumb joke or laugh at mine, and were always there for me when I needed someone to talk to. There was never a dull moment with you around, and I will always look back fondly on our friendship and the good times we shared. I hope wherever you are now, there are as many free Baja Blasts and Crunchwrap Supremes as you could ever dream of.

I was lucky enough to see Cody grow into the person that he had become from day one. We had many great times together, such as canoeing, camping, playing video games, and celebrating birthdays and holidays with friends and family. He cared so much for others that he would put aside what he was going through to listen to them and help them out in any way that he could. He had a quiet confidence about him that was very admirable. He was authentic in who he was and walked his own path in life. He attracted an amazing group of friends into his life that brought out the best in him. Even though he decided to leave us earlier than we expected, I know that his soul is finally at peace and that he is in a much better place.

Cody and I met in 2013 as co-workers. He quickly became a best friend of mine. He never swayed from his genuine, humble, and kind personality. His desire to live his biggest and best life as well as help others do the same despite the enormous challenges he faced day in and day out was nothing short of awe inspiring.  I was incredibly lucky and fortunate to have him in my life, as were so many others. Despite the void that he leaves behind in this life, I take solace knowing that he is no longer in pain in his next.

Cody was so many things. His personality was kind, loving, caring, and he was a funny guy, who loved to laugh and have fun. He was an amazing friend, partner, and son to his family, but he especially was my best friend. He helped his family in whatever ways he could, and he always wanted everyone to be happy. He never wanted anyone to feel left out and did his best to strike up conversations. He lent an ear to his friends when they needed him. He loved with everything he had and always did his best to make me happy and, most importantly, feel loved. I am forever grateful to have met him and to have been able to spend three years of my life with him, to have been able to experience his love and kindness. He did everything he could to make the people he cared about know that he appreciated them and cared about them. Cody will forever be missed and loved. 

Cody's mother is our foster daughter Gail, and we enjoyed many visits with him and his family in the Twin Cities while he was growing up.  They also visited us at our home in Foxboro, Wisconsin as well as in Charleston, SC after we moved there.  One of our favorite memories of Cody is of him and our grandson Forrest playing together in the yard of our house in Foxboro during our fortieth anniversary party that our daughters arranged for us.  The two of them had a grand time and they were such fun to watch.  
Cody will be missed greatly, but we know he is now in a place where his mind is at peace and his troubles are behind him.
