On Wednesday April 28th, 2021, Allen Gene Braun, loving husband and father to three, passed away peacefully at the age of 80. Allen was born on June 14, 1940 in Inver Grove Heights, MN. When he was 18 years old, he met the love of his life, Elaine Ferrin. Elaine and Allen were married on May 6th, 1961. Together, they raised two daughters, Debra and Cynthia and one son, Steven.
In his younger years, Allen really enjoyed camping and fishing. He spent many weekends up north with his son Steven and his brothers. Although, he never seemed to like it much, he was able to fix just about anything you could think of that might break. And, he was always willing and able to help out one of his loved ones when needed. He had a heart of gold.
For such a burly, manly-man, one of Allen’s greatest attributes was his tender heart. This gentleness made it possible for him to become the greatest grandpa on earth. It may be hard to believe, but it’s the truth. Just ask one of his 10 grandkids or 8 great-grandkids, they will happily confirm this information for you. He also had a soft spot for animals. He treated them with the same love and compassion in which he would treat a child. We were very lucky to have such a great guy in our lives.
When you think of Allen Braun, you may giggle to yourself. Don’t worry, this is normal. He was awfully good at making people giggle or even laugh until they cried. His light hearted, sarcastic nature touched the hearts of many and will not be forgotten. This quality is one that he passed down to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We can all be a little goofy at times, but are certainly happy that we have him to blame. Love you Allen.
Allen was proceeded in death by his father William, his mother Agnes and his amazing wife Elaine. He is survived by everyone who is not dead (Allen’s Humor). We are going to miss this man!
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021 at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home at 11:00am. Visitation is at 10:00am.
