He was born April 12, 1949 in Lestock, Saskatchewan and was called home April 3, 2024 at the age of 74 years old in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
He leaves to mourn his brother John Kaye; his sister Marion Dickson; his sons Alvin Morris (Wendy) and Chris Hermann; his daughter Sylvia Littletent-Kequahtooway (Jason); special niece Tina Dickson; his special friends: Spencer Peepeetch, Stan Fontaine and Margo Lovoie; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents Percy Kequahtooway and Mary Jane Kequahtooway; his daughter Sophia Morris; his siblings: Glen Kequahtooway, Vern Kequahtooway, Lawerence Kequahtooway, Jimmy Kequahtooway, Richard Kequahtooway, Donald Iron and a sister who passed in infancy; his grandsons: Keith McKay, Dreyden Nattaway and Aiden Nattaway.
Thomas was born in Lestock and grew up on the farm in Kelliher. He left Saskatchewan when he was 16 years old and moved to Winnipeg where his life began.
Thomas was very loving. He was a soft spoken man who loved life and most importantly he loved and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas was known to be a hard worker. He was a welder and worked until he retired at the age of 65. He loved to travel to powwows throughout Canada and he met and developed a lot of friendships along the way. He loved going to bingo, taking long drives and also attending church.
Thomas will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The wake will be held in Zagime Community Complex, Zagime Anishinabek on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Zagime Community Complex on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., with Elder Alvin Kequahtooway officiating. The pallbearers are Zach Quewezance, Miguel Quewezance, Jonathan Kequahtooway, Roland Kaye, Kyran Kaye and Thomas Kequahtooway. The honorary pallbearers are all those who are in attendance. The interment will be held in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Zagime Anishinabek.
