It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Stadnyk, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, who left us peacefully on the morning of April 9, 2025 at the age of 80 years.
Shirley was a vibrant, spirited woman whose love and strength shaped generations. Born in Lipton, SK, she grew up with her siblings Ruth (deceased as infant), Eleanor, Gordon, Lillian, Herb, Harold and Ida. Shirley grew up with a heart full of adventure, a bold personality and a passion for family that defined her life. She was married to the love of her life, Dennis Stadnyk, for over 60 years and together they built a home filled with the sweet smell of her famous baking.
Shirley will be remembered most for her fierce independence, sharp wit and unwavering love for her family. Whether she was chasing grandkids through her home on Robinson Street, dominating a card game (and accusing Dennis of cheating) or sharing stories from her youth that left us all wide-eyed and laughing, she made every moment memorable.
Her kitchen was always open, her recipes legendary—especially her donuts and Jam Jams—and her phone calls often turned into heartfelt conversations that soothed and inspired. She had a knack for making people feel seen, loved and welcome, no matter what. She enjoyed hosting and entertaining company with her husband Dennis over the years each place they lived.
A true animal lover at heart, Shirley had a special bond with her pets, especially her kitties and her loyal companion Hoover. Her gentle way and soft voice could calm even the most spirited cat and Hoover was never far from her side. The way she cared for her animals was just another reflection of the compassion she showed to all living things.
Shirley is survived by her loving children: Annette Burton, Jack (Regan) Stadnyk, Paul Stadnyk and Loretta Stadnyk; her cherished grandchildren: Kristen (Spenser) McGowan, Dennis (Erica) Burton, Cassy (Brandon) Snedden, Daxton (Christa) Moffatt, Desirae Moffatt, Ethan Stadnyk and Mykhailo Sheehan; her great-grandchildren: Emma, Jax, Navy, Hazel and Maggie and many other family members and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
She was predeceased by her dear grandson Brandon and now joins him in eternal peace.
A celebration of Shirley's life was held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley, Saskatchewan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honour of Shirley’s memory and her fight against dementia to Wolseley Integrated Care Centre, c/o Wolseley & District Health Foundation, Box 134, Wolseley, Sk. S0G 5H0 (specify in memo line: Residents Activity Fund)
Rest peacefully, Shirley. You were our sunshine, our strength and our heart. We will carry your love with us always.
Forever loved. Never forgotten
