October 15, 1924 – October 9, 2012
Family and friends say goodbye to Ruby with love and sadness. She was a truly loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Born in Wolseley, the youngest child of Joe and Annie (Marshall) Barber, she is predeceased by her parents and siblings. She is also predeceased by her husband Charles, sons Gordon (Maggie) and David, grandson Sam Kinnear, and son-in-law Kent Billett. Survived by daughters Connie (Kent Billett), Laverne (Don McGinn), Grace (Steve Carroll) and Sheryl (Bob Katzco); by daughter-in-law Maggie Halford, by grandchildren Lena and Lewis McGinn and Matty (Miki) Thompson, and by great-grandchildren Emma and Maya Thompson. Ruby will be remembered for her kind and easy-going manner and her resourcefulness. She was a prolific gardener, cook, seamstress, pianist and church woman, who never met a game she didn’t like. A masterful bridge player, she was just as enthusiastic when playing Scrabble, Bunco or Fish. She will be missed. A public graveside service will be held in the Indian Head Cemetery, Indian Head, SK. On Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joyce Hilton officiating. A reception will follow in St. Andrew’s United Church C.E. Centre. Our gratitude to the staff of the Golden Prairie Nursing Home is immeasurable. The family asks that in lieu of flowers if friends so desire contributions to Golden Prairie Nursing Home, Box 250 Indian Head, SK. May be tokens of remembrance.
