Ronald was born in Broadview, Saskatchewan on January 6, 1957 and passed away on July 26, 2017 after a lengthy illness. He is mourned by his parents, Martha Burge (nee Anderson) and Fred Joynt, Ken and Marlane Burge, his children, Nathan Burge and Nadine Sawotin, and his grandchildren, Jade and Madi Sawotin. Ron is predeceased by his brother Sidney Burge and his ex-wife Karen Holkestad. He is survived by his brother, Brian Burge (Elaine Clarke), and three sisters, Jean Nelson (John Pawliw), Teresa Burge, and Anita Burge (Jolanda Westerlaken), eight nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Justin, Brooke, Ben, and Mackenzie Burge, Kristin Nelson, Ella and Mika Westerlaken-Burge.
Ron always loved spending his summers at Round Lake. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, swimming and hill climbing. In addition, he was a crib and Sudoku master. Ron was a practical joker with a great sense of humour. He was very artistic and an enthusiastic gardener…weeds beware! Ron had a long career working in construction as a concrete-finisher, dry waller and painter.
The families of Ron Burge would like to thank Pioneer Village and their staff for their unconditional support to Ron while in their care. A graveside service for the family and close friends of Ron Burge will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Broadview cemetery.
