A man of amazing strength, great faith, and integrity, is now happily reunited with his beloved Molly.
Born in 1922 dad lived his whole life on the prairies. Growing up on the farm with 10 brothers and sisters he was no stranger to hard work, many of his younger years were spent painting the grain elevators that shaped the landscape of the prairies until recent years. As a young 19-year-old he was called upon to serve his country. Dad fought in the front lines during World War II was captured in Holland and taken to a POW camp in Poland. Through great strength, faith and a friendship with his comrade Ed LaChappelle, they were liberated from Stalag 8C on an arduous journey that safely brought them home. A decorated soldier so proud we are of our dad, receiving the Canadian Volunteer Medal with Active Service, France and German Service Star, 1939-45 Service Star, the King George 1939-45 Medal and the 1939-45 Defence Medal, Lieutenant Governor Service Award. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Molly. Together they made loving homes living in various cities and towns along the way; all the while making lasting friendships and sharing stories. Dad was a great storyteller. A historian of all things Saskatchewan he was always willing to share a story and to listen to yours.
The spoons are at rest, the guitar strings are still, and the voice is now one that will be heard with the choir of angels.
