Norman Duane Delorme

Duane was predeceased by his parents Norman and Viola Delorme, sister Donna, precious son Noel, nephew Timothy Lerat, brothers-in-law: Murray, Eddie, and Vern McNabb; and Ron, Johnny and Morris Bellegarde.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Karen, his children: Morris, Curtis (Melissa), Katie, Marla (Ron), Nikki, Matthew (Alyssa) and long-term foster children Dwayne and Dakota. His sisters: Noreen Bear, Susan, Frances, Angela and Phoebe; along with his McNabb brothers and sisters-in-law: Darwin (Linda), Kenny (Lana), Stuart (Jen), George (Carol), Dean, Sharon, and Muriel (Harley). He was a loving Mushom to 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family and many cousins and friends.

Duane went to Residential School at Marieval, then boarding school in Yorkton. He was a hippie, back in the day, with his long, curly reddish-brown hair and artistic nature. He met the love of his life, Karen McNabb in the late 70’s while she was still in high school and they’ve been inseparable for 47 years and 39 years married.

In his 20’s, he attended university at the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College (now FNUC) where he pursued studies in Indian Fine Arts. He was truly a gifted artist but never displayed his works except to his family. Later, he worked at various jobs and more recently, would be seen with a food booth at pow wows.

Norman (Duane) resided on his home nation of 'Cowessess FN’ which he loved so much, where he also planted numerous gardens. He was a big supporter of all his children and was so proud to see his son get elected into leadership of Cowessess. The majority of his life was dedicated to caring for his family, his most cherished career of all!

On Behalf of our beloved father, our family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Saint Peter’s Hospital in Melville SK, and the Regina General Hospital MICU for the great care and compassion they showed our father as well as STARS and Staff. Special thanks to Nurse “Eigh” for being his nurse and taking great care & support to dad, and continuous updates our family needed.

The wake was held on July 6, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in the Zagime Anishinabek Community Complex followed by a traditional service on July 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Zagime Anishinabek. Elder Clarence Stonechild will be officiating.

The pallbearers were: Aiden Delorme, Charles Delorme, Craige Louison, Jordan Lerat, Murray McNabb and Michael Oakes.
