Leonard Kardash lived a long and happy life in Grenfell, Saskatchewan. He was born on May 26, 1933 and he passed away on the evening of February 23, 2025 safe and sound in his home with family. He loved his family with his whole heart and soul. Leonard played guitar and harmonica, liked to sing, and was in a band with his brothers and friends. His "Rooster Song" brought many smiles. His bright personality lit up every room and community event he attended. Cribbage and hola were his favourite card games, often playing late into the night. He was an honest hard worker, a craftsman, and a giver.
His memory lives on through his wife, Marlene, son Michael (Audrey) Kardash, daughter Brenda (Adam; with children Jasper, Selah, Ty) Morris, and son Kevin (Jaimee) Kardash; sisters, Janet (Columb) Cryan and Rose Pastuch; brother-in-law Erwin (Pat) Schmidt; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his siblings: Annie, Katherine, Alex, John, Bill, Harry, Mary; and parents: Michael and Rose.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter and St. Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church (Assiniboia Ave, Grenfell, SK), officiated by Father Warren Dungen. The pallbearers will be Michael Kardash, Kevin Kardash, Kevin Wall, Kelvin Kardash, Dean Grace and Clint Kardash. The honorary pallbearer is Brenda Kardash. The interment will be held in Grenfell Town Cemetery after the service, with lunch to follow in St. Columbkille Roman Catholic Church.
