May 31, 1944 – October 15, 2017
The family of John David Bieber, formerly of Wolseley and more recently Regina, is deeply saddened to announce his passing in Regina at the age of 73 years. He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Margaret (nee More) Bieber, his younger brother Walter, and his cousin James More. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Marjorie, his sister-in-law Kathleen, and his cousin Patrick More. He was a devoted uncle to Walter and Kathleen’s children: Margaret, Ann, Herman (Christina) and their children Aiva, Mya, Raya, Noah and Ezra; Walter (Danika) and their children Maggie Beth and Danny; and Jane (Ryan Elder) and their children Dominik and Konnor. He will also be missed by special friend Marlene Lidgren, her family Brenda and her children: Gavin, Cassandra and Krista. John is also survived by extensive family and many friends.
John was born in Wolseley on May 31, 1944. He attended Spring Hill and Southgate country schools, and Wolseley High School. After high school, John began farming with his father Herman, and they were joined two years later by John’s brother, Walter. They ran a mixed farming operation, producing a variety of crops and purebred Hereford cattle. John enjoyed the promotional and marketing aspects of the Hereford industry, and travelled extensively doing this. One offshoot of this were the RVHF – Maple Laynn Production Sales held at Alfred and Vicky Sattler’s Regina View Ranch at Jameson in the later 1970’s and early 1980’s.
John made his home at Maple Laynn Farm south of Wolseley until recently, when he had to move to Regina for medical reasons. He continued to miss the farm and community of Wolseley to the very end.
A public graveside service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wolseley Community Cemetery with Robert Stringer officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the graveside at 12:00 noon in the Wolseley Town Hall/Opera house.
