Joan was predeceased by her husband Gerald Biden; parents Norman and Beatrice Strickland; parents-in-law Irma and Russ Biden and her siblings.
Joan was born December 7, 1933 to Norman and Bea Strickland in Moosomin, Saskatchewan as the youngest of six children: Harold, Art, Bill, Helen and Mae. Joan went to school in Broadview. She married Gerald Biden in 1950 and two children followed - Steven and Linda. In her younger years she loved her work as a telephone operator. Joan and Gerry were actively involved with the Broadview community where she was Brownie Leader and made costumes for the carnival. She loved cooking, gardening, flowers and sewing, including intricate costumes for her kids.
Shortly after their third child, Nick was born they moved to Winnipeg for Gerry’s job. She loved to curl and being a social butterfly, she made many friends. In the late seventies they moved to Regina to be closer to their kids and their first grandchild and settled on Brocklebank Cres. This move brought them closer to their cottage at Crooked Lake where they spent half the year playing golf, dancing and socializing. When in the city, Joan attended dances, skied and enjoyed coffee gatherings at the Northgate Mall. Joan was always creating something. She crocheted, did needlework, sewed moccasins and knit many sweaters for her grandchildren. The unique birthday cakes she made every year for each grandchild will be long remembered as well as the fun cakes she brought to holiday celebrations. Joan travelled to England to meet her cousins and to Texas for a couple of winters where she enjoyed the weather and dancing. Joan’s legacy is her family. She brought family together for every holiday with big meals, a large variety of desserts, games and the most beautifully decorated tree.
Joan is survived by her children: son Steven (Val) Biden and their children, Michelle Biden (Craig), children Aven and Lou; Scott Biden (Alexandria); Brittany (Landon) Schira, children Juno and Poppy.
