Dwight was predeceased by his parents Walter (Bill) and Jean Dixon. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Lois of 45 years; his children, Jay (Amanda) Dixon and Michelle (Curtis) Geisler; grandchildren Lucas, Jaxon, Nate, Shaye and Jetta. Brother, Floyd (Laura) Dixon of Balcarres and Nieces, Rebecca and Amber and Nephew, William.
Dwight grew up in the Tullymet District. After graduating high school in Balcarres he attended Kelsey Institute of applied arts and science and became a journeyman carpenter. He then moved home and started Dixon Construction until 1981 when he purchased Chatterson Lumber.
Dwight was an active community member. He served on town council for 34 years, of which 16 as Mayor. He was a Lions member for 35 years. He was a board member and the president of the Western Retail Lumber Association. Throughout his life Dwight enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and his grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Dwight’s life will be held at 1:00pm, on Friday, November 22, 2019 in the Balcarres Lions Hall.
