January 23, 1928 – September 5, 2022
Doreen was born January 23, 1928, the firstborn of Tom & Myrtle Slykhuis.
She lived most of her life in Kennedy, Sask., and was known for her selfless generosity. Doreen was always giving –her love, time, baking, knitted items, quilts and afghans are only a small part of what she gave.
Doreen was predeceased by her husbands (Gabriel Chanut and George Cancade), her parents (Tom & Myrtle Slykhuis), brother Ivan & wife Christena, sister Donelda as well as many other relatives and friends.
Doreen is survived by her children, Dale (Sheila), Glenn (Debbie), Bonnie (George), Marie (Glenn), 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was also known as mama, gramma, auntie and much more to many others in the community.
The funeral mass was held in the St. Ann. R.C. Church on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. (visitation at 10:00). Lunch followed in the Kennedy Community Hall. Livestreaming of the funeral mass was available with the link that is posted below.
