Brandon Wade Sanderson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brandon Sanderson, Iyan Wakan Wicasa - Holy Stone Man, of Cegakin First Nation. He made his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the age of 34 years.

Brandon was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Gerald Prettyshield and Geraldine Ryder; aunts Marcy, Darla, Stacey and Nellie; uncles Derek and Harlen; paternal grandparents Mary and Gilbert Sanderson; aunts Elva and Crystal; uncles Jackie, Wilbert, Lawerence, Gilbert, Orville, Wyatt, Tracey and Patrick Junior Sanderson of James Smith Cree Nation.

He leaves to mourn his mother Sherry (Sean); father Walter; children Braydon and Aubree Sanderson; brothers: Tylor (Linda), Cody (Jeri) and Sundance (Brooklyn); special sisters Darrion (Jordan), Lateshia (Kenzie), Nikita (Brady) and Finolla; special brothers Deon and Mike; special aunt Sylvia (Darrell); aunts Allison, Jennifer and Colleen Prettyshield, Lena, Ida, Erva, Eldeen (Patrick), Joyce (John), Marie and Andrea Sanderson; uncles Ian (Joyce) Prettyshield, Gerald (Autterius) and Chris (Karen) Ryder, Herman, Eldon and Wilbur Sanderson; along with numerous relatives and friends.

The wake was in the Cegakin Community Hall on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service was in the Cegakin Community Hall on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Kurt Ryder officiating. The pallbearers were: Montana Primeau, Mike Ryder, Duskee Rider, Larson Ryder, Gonzalo Ryder and Barrett Prettyshield.

The interment took place in the North Cemetery.
