Bill, age 92, was born in Detroit, Michigan, son of Joseph and Mary Balogh. He grew up in Detroit and nearby Downriver with older brother Joe and younger brothers Tom and Dan and sister Mary Ann. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Wyandotte and attended the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor before enlisting in the United States Army in 1951. Bill served during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He fondly recalled his travels in Europe during that time. After an honorable discharge he continued his studies at Wayne State University, where he met his wife, Melica Berarov Balogh, and graduated in 1964 with an MBA degree.
Bill and Mitzie raised their children, daughter Susan and son William in the new suburb of Southgate, Michigan. Bill retired after 30 years with the Ford Motor Company—working his way up from the loading docks to becoming a Department Manager in the Automotive Assembly Division. In 1986 they moved to Florida to spend lots of time with their young grandchildren, still young enough themselves to enjoy trips to theme parks and babysit often. He was always available for school pick ups and for lifting them on his shoulders to watch parades (he was 6”5” tall). He also utilized his beloved Leica camera obtained during his army years to document every significant event of their lives as the family photographer.
Bill and Mitzie celebrated their 60th anniversary in November 2014. He was predeceased by her, his parents, and older brother Joe. He is survived by sister Mary Ann Goss, brothers Tom and Dan, daughter Susan Wozniak and husband Ken, son Bill and wife Kim Radwanski, grandchildren Carrie Ann and husband Jim Goldsmith, Tricia and husband Grant Grubich, Kevin, Riley, Max, Peyton, Kadance, Catcher Bill, and Anabelle; and great-grandchildren Sloane, James and Jack.
Celebration of Life Mass will be held Saturday, December 16th at 10:00 am with viewing at 9:00 am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 4545 Anderson Rd, Orlando, FL.
