May 18, 1927 - August 2, 2019
Shirley J. (Jones) Crosby passed away on 8/2/19. She had been a resident of the Mayflower Retirement Community in Winter Park, FL since 1997.
Shirley was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the oldest of three children born to Parker Jones and Evelyn Johnson-Jones (Married 1926). Shirley is predeceased by her two siblings, Phyllis Jones Churchill (December 20, 2016) and Donald Edward Jones (December 15, 1995).
Shirley graduated from Brentwood High School, Pittsburgh, PA.
Shirley took a ministry trip to China with Nora Lam in 1983. That trip sealed in Shirley's heart a commitment to make it her life's work to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations and began a 20 year plus journey of traveling the world to share the good news of the Gospel. To prepare for Missions work, Shirley attended Rhema Bible Training Institute in Broken Arrow, OK from 1985-1987. As a part of her practical experience training with Rhema, Shirley did missions work in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica. While attending Rhema, Shirley also took an additional trip to China with Nora Lam.
In her lifetime Shirley ministered in 41 different nations throughout the world, both as a teacher and an intercessor. She had a great love for the nation and people of Israel and moved to Migdal, Israel in 1997 where she lived much of each year until 2002. In 1997, Shirley opened a House of Prayer for all nations in Migdal and hosted numerous intercessors from the United States, Australia, Europe, New Guinea, Cameroon, South America and the Far East.
After returning to the United States in 2002, Shirley subsequently made one more trip to Israel to celebrate her 77th birthday in 2004 - that was her last ministry trip abroad. She continued to travel and minister domestically for several more years.
The highlight of Shirley's ministry in her latter years is that, in 2006, she began and faithfully led the Mayflower Bible Study. Prior to Shirley's study, the Mayflower had numerous attempts at starting a Bible Study, none of which lasted more than six months. In Shirley's honor, the Mayflower Bible Study continues to this day.
