Robert Joseph Miller was born on November 16, 1935 in Washington, DC to Harry Aloysius and Mary (Dee) Miller. The youngest of three brothers (Harry and William, both deceased), Bob was always a good student attending St Gabriel's Catholic School and graduating from Gonzaga College High School in 1953. He put himself through college at Georgetown University by working as a tutor. Upon graduation, he took up a teaching position at DeMatha High School and paid his way through law school, also at Georgetown. He briefly practiced law with his friend Gene Peters, served as executive assistant to Maryland Governor Millard Tawes and as a legislative aide to Congressman Jack Brooks from Texas. He later received a master’s degree in Labor Law from Georgetown Law School and began a twenty five year career with the United States Department of Labor, working with disadvantaged populations on equal employment laws.. He also operated a tutoring company, Tutors, Inc., for more than sixty years, helping students with all subjects and examinations. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, the former Margaret Rigby, his sons Michael and Robert, daughter-in-law Nora and grandchildren, Jack and Katie.
