De Vasto, Richard Robert, 87, of Winter Park, FL. passed away on September 25, 2019. Born May 1, 1932 in Boston, MA to the late Jennie and Gus De Vasto. Predeceased by his wife of 11 years, Marian, he is survived by his son Gordon (Connie); grandchildren, John and Jennifer, and his beautiful life partner, Irene Osborne. He attended school in Boston, MA and Rollins College, Winter Park, FL.
Richard served 23 ½ years in the United States Marine Corps. He was a combat veteran of Korea and Vietnam and retired as a First Sergeant. He served as an US Marshall for over 7 years.
Richard was an Independent Associate of Legal Shield (Formerly known as Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.) for over 37 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Winter Park, FL. He was also a member of many Central Florida Organizations: First Marine Division Association, Central FL Veterans, Inc., Marine Corps League, Orlando, Italian American War Post #4, Korean War Veterans Association, Bahia Shriners, Winter Park Lodge #239, Disabled American Veterans, Fleet Reserve Association, and the American legion Post #112.
Richard never knew a stranger and was loved by all. May God’s arms continue to hold Richard and welcome him to the peace and comfort he so richly deserves in Heaven.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11 A.M. with a reception to follow at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home.
