Mary E. Fernandez

September 7, 1932 -- April 8, 2022

Mary Alice started her life in Detroit, MI on September 7, 1932. She was the oldest of the "the three Edgar sisters," with Kae and Susie. Growing up among her Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins, gave Mary Alice a special love and appreciation for family and traditions. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 9 during the Child Evangelism Program at her public school and her faith in Him remained strong throughout her life. Mary Alice graduated a year early from Denby High, earned an AA from Highland Park Jr. College in retailing and started at People's Outfitting retail store in 1948. In January 1954, stepping off the train in the warmth and sunshine of FL, Mary exclaimed, "I'll never live in the cold again!"

Mary met Joe Fernandez on March 1, 1954 in Tampa where he promptly fell in love with her! They were married August 28, 1954 and had a strong marriage serving the Lord, for over 55 years (until the Lord called Joe Home on March 13, 2010), with two daughters, Marijo and Susan Kae. After the girls married and left home, Mary worked at Oviedo High School as Records Secretary. When her Grandchildren started arriving, she came home and with SK opened Mary Muffin Ceramics in 1982! A wonderful time of enriching Katie, Cooper and Stevie as they grew, Mary and Joe were amazing as Grandparents! For the last two years, Mary lived with Terry & SK in the TreeView House, where they all had the Joy and privilege of serving her until her Savior called her Home on April 8, 2022. Her beloved family & friends that had gone on before welcomed her into Heaven! We, who are left behind, will always remember her love and kindness towards others as she lived the life of the woman Jesus created her to be!

Mary Alice is survived by her Daughters: Marijo Taylor (Jerry), Susan Kae Schenk (Terry). She is also survived by her Grandchildren: Dr. Kathleen K. Schenk, Ph.D.; Cooper & A.J. Mikler; Steven J. Schenk, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.
