Maria Eugenia Mesa passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014. She was born to the late Ricardo E. Mesa and Zenaida A. Rodriguez on October 18, 1953 in Cuba. Maria attended Baldwin High School before attending the University of Florida, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agriculture. She continued on to Clemson University, where she received her Master’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences. She worked as a Registered Dietitian for the Orange County Health Department for over 20 years, where she was a co-creator of B.A.B.Y., a nationally recognized post-natal nutritional program. Maria was also the creator of Desafio, a Spanish trivia board game. Maria was a passionate and driven person. She showed this through her love for her family, friends, and career. She had many interests and a lust for adventure. Her travels took her through Europe, the Caribbean, and the Americas. She loved to share her entrepreneurial ideas and political enthusiasm. She was a proud Cuban-American who ate, danced, and laughed her way through life. Maria was survived by her sister, Mercedes M. Albert, and her two nieces, Natalie M. Oriol and Andrea J. Albert. The Memorial Service and Mass will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Orlando on Tuesday, August 5th at 10:00 AM. Burial at Glen Haven Memorial Park and Celebration of Life to follow.
