John graduated from ‘Lalani School and studied English and public speaking at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He proudly served our country for 20 years in the United States Navy where he retired as a Master Chief Radioman. John worked on Telephone systems and Network operations management in the private sector. He was instrumental in bringing fiber optics to the World Trade Center back in 1976.
After John retried in 1992, he thoroughly enjoyed his work helping to care for others including being active in caring for people dying from AIDS through Hospice.
John is predeceased by his wife of over 56 years, Patricia Rexroat Townsend, who passed in 2015.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, John H (Cathy), Marshall (Loretta); his sister Virginia Ennis (Charles); his brothers, James (Patricia), Robert (Beth); his four grandchildren, Amanda, John (Kate), Pamela (Matthew), Michelle (Anthony); his four great grandchildren, Giovanni, Carter, Blake and Grace will arrive in May, as well as many extended family members and friends who loved and adored him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Richards Episcopal Church in Winter Park, FL. Please see below for dates posted.
