John's first and only marriage was to the late Irene J. Roberts whom he loved dearly. John was a proud and humble man who truly loved and devoted to his wife and family, appreciating and enjoying every moment of time he spent with them. John was a man of very few words, but anyone who was around him knew that he loved them. He loved cars and although he had other hobbies and interests, traveling with his wife Irene, children and grandchildren was his most treasured past time. Whether it was traveling by car through the U.S., camping out at Indian Acres or taking to the water / high seas on their many cruise excursions out of the country, he enjoyed it all.
John and his family lived in Washington, DC for many years. In the later years, he and his wife moved to Upper Marlboro, MD, then relocated to Delaware a short time afterwards. Two years after Irene's passing, John relocated for a final time to Leesburg, Florida with his son Peter and wife Joan.
John was married to the late Irene Roberts with whom he shared a loving home and devoted life for over sixty years. He was a hardworking father of five children: three deceased sons, Ernest Roberts, Nathan G. Roberts and Vincent Jackson. One deceased brother James Roberts, one surviving son, Peter L. Jackson, one surviving daughter, Doree L. Gore.
John was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife Irene; sons Ernest Roberts, Nathan G. Roberts and Vincent E. Jackson. John leaves to cherish his memory, his son Peter Jackson, and daughter Doree Gore; seven granddaughters, Nicole Talbert, Monique Roberts (Maedeen), Natalie Roberts, Nichele Williams (Jayson), Michelle Kelley, Janelle and Candice Jackson; three grandsons, Peter Jackson, Jr., Cordell Jackson and Damon Curtis; twelve great grandchildren; Ja'Nyah Roberts, Giavanna Roberts, Kendra and Kiera Brown-Jackson, Ashton Gladney, Jessica Kelley, Chanel and Kazia Williams, Todd, Aton and Paul Williams, Darius Curtis. One brother-in-law, Eugene T. Nickens and one niece, Jackie Roberts; Four daughters-in-law Loraine Roberts, Darlene Roberts-White, Joan and Helen Jackson and a host of friends, family and neighbors in Delaware.
